All-Day Celebration At Original Mockingbird Bakery

La Madeleine French Bakery & Café beloved for its craveable recipes and ‘home away from home’ ambiance is celebrating its 35th anniversary with an all-day event at the original Mockingbird bakery on Friday, February 23rd.

In February 1983, Frenchman Patrick Leon Esquerré created and opened the first la Madeleine. His inspiration was clear. While he was enjoying his new life in Texas, he yearned for the simplicities and joie that made his upbringing in the French countryside so rich. Everyday pleasures like lingering over a cup of freshly brewed coffee, butter croissant and friendly conversation. It didn’t take long before he realized he could share the joys of his French childhood through an authentic French bakery, a concept scarce in the early 80s. With that, and an incredible amount of passion, the la Madeleine story began.

Anniversary celebrations begin early Friday morning the 23rd at the Mockingbird la Madeleine. The first 100 guests in line at 6:30 a.m. will be welcomed in true French style with the ultimate treat, free bread for a year* along with freshly-baked baguettes and French berets.

La Madeleine App members are being treated to a French flag mini tart at all la Madeleine bakeries on Friday, February 23rd. If Mockingbird is out of reach, simply visit the bakery nearest you and scan your la Madeleine app to redeem.

Throughout the day, la Madeleine is sponsoring a raffle benefitting the Junior League of Dallas. “Our founder, Patrick Esquerré credits the ambitious women of Dallas for seeing his vision and helping grow la Madeleine to what it is today. We feel it is only fitting to say merci and contribute to the numerous community programs the Junior League supports,” said Jacqueline O’Reilly Sr. Director Marketing. Raffle prizes include a Louis Vuitton Neverful, Classic Cruiser Bike, Free Bread for a Year Cards, Dinner with founder Patrick Esquerré, Cooking Class with la Madeleine’s VP of Culinary – Susan Dederen and la Madeleine gift cards. Raffle tickets can be purchased in person at the Mockingbird bakery from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23rd at $5 a piece or 5 for $20.

From 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., la Madeleine is hosting a French market on the west patio of the Mockingbird bakery. The market will feature local French businesses such as Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie, L’Occitane, Petit Atelier & Tissu & more. Local acclaimed artist, Benjamin Vincent, a friend of our founder and la Madeleine, will hand draw free caricatures. Guests are invited to meet, take pictures and share stories with our founder, Patrick Esquerré during the event.

Anniversary celebrations conclude at 3:30 p.m., when the bakery closes for a private event.
