Chocolate Cherry Pull Apart Bread

Serves 3-4.

Ingredients

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg
  • 1 TSP water

Bread

  • 1 1/3 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 2 TSP sugar
  • 1 1/2 TSP salt
  • 1 TBSP softened butter, extra for greasing
  • 3 1/2 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour, extra for dusting
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate, grated
  • 3/4 cup dried cherries

Glaze (optional)

  • 1/2 cup powered sugar
  • 1 TBSP water

Directions

Egg Wash

  1. Beat egg with water until smooth

Bread

  1. Soak dried cherries in hot water for 10 minutes, drain, and pat dry with paper towel
  2. To make dough: Combine all of the ingredients in the order listed, mixing and kneading by hand or a stand mixer to make a smooth dough, it should be soft and feel bouncy
  3. Place the dough in a lightly greased (buttered) bowl, cover, and let rise for 60-90 minutes until it becomes puffy
  4.  While dough is rising line two cookie sheets with parchment paper
  5. Transfer the dough on a lightly greased work surface
  6. Gently deflate the dough, divide it into 14 equal pieces, and shape into a ball
  7. Evenly space 7 per pan seam side down with one in the center and 6 surrounding
  8. Cover lightly and let rise until noticeably puffy (40-50 minutes), towards the end of rising preheat oven to 350
  9. Using a pastry brush, brush each bread very lightly with egg wash being careful not to deflate the dough
  10. Bake buns for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, remove from oven, and place pan on a rack
  11. You can ice and serve from pan or turn them out for a prettier presentation
  12. Drizzle the warm bread with glaze if desired

  1. Whisk powered sugar and water together until smooth
